Common questions

The times differ from my mosque. What can I do?

Mosques and countries follow different calculation methods, and some set their own timetable. In Salah, open Settings and choose the method your mosque uses (Salah picks the usual one for your country to begin with). Then, if a prayer is still a few minutes off, adjust that prayer by up to 30 minutes either way. Asr also depends on the school: Shafi'i, Maliki and Hanbali on one side, Hanafi on the other. Your mosque or family teacher can tell you which to follow.

My reminders do not arrive.

Open the iPhone or iPad Settings app, then Notifications › Salah, and make sure notifications are allowed (and not silenced by a Focus). In Salah, check that the reminder for that prayer is switched on in Settings › Reminders. Salah plans about twelve days of reminders ahead and renews them each time you open the app, so open it now and then.

Why does Salah say there is no sunrise or sunset today?

Far in the north or south, around midsummer or midwinter, the sun may not set or may not rise at all. Salah then says so rather than invent times. In places where the nights are very short, Fajr and Isha are estimated with a high-latitude rule, which you can change in Settings. Ask your local mosque which rule it follows.

How do I restore Salah Pro?

Open Settings › Salah Pro and tap Restore purchase while signed in with the Apple Account that bought it. Family Sharing members get Pro automatically once the purchaser shares it. On the Mac, the same purchase unlocks the menu bar countdown.

Does Salah need my location?

No. You can pick your city from the list. If you tap Use my location, Salah asks once, finds the nearest city and keeps the answer on your device. The Mac version has no location access: choose the city from the list.

Do the children's charts sync between devices?

Not at the moment. Each device keeps its own chart on that device, and the Mac does not show the children's charts.

Something looks wrong.

Please tell us the city, the method, the date and the time you expected. A screenshot helps.
